"You are as stingy as a damned Jew."

Apparently, Cynthia Mckinney keeps good company. Her lawyer, James W. Myart, Jr. is quoted as making this post's title in a class action suit against the USDA on behalf of black farmers:
While in a heated debate with USDA Lawyers trying to arrange a
settlement for one of his clients, Mr. Myart reportedly blurted out "You are as stingy as a damned Jew." Mr. Myart was disbarred for two
years.
I haven't been able to independently confirm the quote, the statement about his disbarrment is incorrect, but the Texas Bar Journal does show that he was publically reprimanded in 1998 and in 1999 accepted a 48-month, partially-probated suspension effective March 4, 1999, with the first 12 months actively served and the remainder probated.

Separated at Birth?

Probably not, but they are both wretched thugz from da hood with a commonality for innovative problem solving. It's called the slap. Whenever you are told something you don't want to hear, offer up a slap. Not recommended for persons without fame, fortune or power.

Of course society's deplorable miscreants also need their enablers:
Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi on Thursday labeled it "a mistake, an unfortunate lack of recognition of a member of Congress." She added that the police officer was not at fault.

How conciliatory of her. I am sure the officer is reassured to know he is not the guilty party in Cynthia's slapfest. She continued:
"I would not make a big deal of this," said Pelosi, D-Calif.

Apologies for saying this but I really would give my baseball card collection for someone slap to Ms. Pelosi.

Still waiting for an apology from the Beltway Brawler but none has been forthcoming. Deep down I hope nothing happens to her. Cynthia McKinney is one of the Republican's greatest assets. She is one of the few members of Congress whose public demeanor is an accurate reflection of her politics and ideas. Fight on Sister Soldier.

A World with Borders and without Free Inquiry

Hat tip to the Infidel Bloggers Alliance.

Borders and Walden Books have decided not to carry Free Inquiry, a magazine currently publishing the Danish cartoons.

"For us, the safety and security of our customers and employees is a top priority, and we believe that carrying this issue could challenge that priority," Borders Group Inc. spokeswoman Beth Bingham said Wednesday.
Cowards should not be in the business of selling books. The editor-in-chief of Free Inquiry puts it succinctly and correctly:

"What is at stake is the precious right of freedom of expression," said Paul Kurtz, editor-in-chief of Free Inquiry. "Cartoons often provide an important form of political satire ... To refuse to distribute a publication because of fear of vigilante violence is to undermine freedom of press _ so vital for our democracy."
Remember this before your walk into one of their trendy lounges.

The Shame of All Time

Time article here. Michelle Malkin alerts us to it here. Truth & Terrorism gives analysis here.

I found it to be such a slander and such shoddy journalism, I thought more extensive treament was not only warranted, but necessitated. Look at this wretch:

Western leaders breathed a sigh of relief yesterday at the release of Abdul Rahman, a Christian convert who had faced the death penalty under Afghanistan's Islamic law for renouncing his Muslim faith. Rahman, 40, has become the poster boy for the Christian right and for religious freedom . Closer up, however, the picture painted by the local police who arrested him shows a candidate not quite ready for family values. Rather, a portrait emerges of a deadbeat dad with psychological problems who couldn't hold down a job, abused his daughters and parents and didn't pay child support .

Colonel Mohammed Saber Monseffi, the chief crime officer at the 15th district police station in Kabul, brought Abdul Rahman in for questioning after a domestic dispute turned violent late last month. Says Monseffi, "He told me, 'I'm a Christian,' and I said that is not of any interest to me. I asked him why did you beat your father, why did you beat your daughters? " The fact that Rahman was Christian was secondary to his family's desire to get him out of the house, said Monseffi, who adds that his own wife is a Russian Christian .

Witness statements by his teenage daughters Mariam and Maria, aged 13 and 14, on the night of his arrest appear to detail his failures as a parent. "He behaves badly with us and we were threatened and disgraced by him. He has no job and has never given me a stitch of clothing or a crust of bread. Just his name as a father," said his 13-year-old daughter Mariam in a statement signed with her inky fingerprint .

He gets no love from his parents, but we begin to see the dynamic at play here. I'll let their words below make this evident:

Abdul Rahman's parents did not appear to help his cause. A statement by his mother Ghul Begum reads: "We brought up his children and for eight years he didn't come home. Because he has converted from Islam to another religion we don't want him in our house." His father Abdul Manan's statement says, "(Abdul Rahman) wanted to change the ethics of my children and family. He is not going in the right direction. I have thrown him out of my house." Abdul Rahman's own statement does not dispute his financial straits. "Since I am jobless my family is with my children. I had economic problems with my familiy and my father has many complaints about me. He has warned me if I don't become a Muslim, I will be driven away from the house."
Now, both his daughters and the rest of his family are in hiding in Kabul, fearful that they could be targeted by a now liberated Rahman or by Islamic extremists. On Monday several hundred clerics, students and other protestors gathered on the streets of Mazar-i-Sharif calling for his execution and shouting "death to Christians." Afghanistan's deputy attorney general Mohammed Eshaq Aloko said Rahman would be allowed overseas for medical treatment but that the case could be reopened "when he is healthy."
A man was on trial for the sole reason that he converted from Islam, with shoddy reporting and innuendo, Rachel Morarjee sought to depict him as everything the radical Imams believe him to be, a demonic and crazed Christian apostate. He has been shunned by his wife, children and parents and cast out of the house. And where do this authors sympathies lie? What a disgraceful piece of biased and distorted reporting. Time should be ashamed.

McKinney in Altercation with Capitol Police officer

By Jonathan E. Kaplan and Josephine Hearn
A U.S. Capitol Police officer is considering filing assault charges against Rep. Cynthia McKinney (D-Ga.) after an altercation in which she allegedly hit him after he asked to see identification, according to a source familiar with the incident.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:50 this morning at the New Jersey Avenue and C Street entrance to the Longworth Building. As McKinney was entering the building, the officer stopped her and asked her for her ID.

McKinney allegedly hit him before identifying herself as a member of Congress and walking away, the source said.

The lawmaker's office would not comment on the incident.
Sgt. Kimberly Schneider, spokeswoman for the Capitol Police, was unable to confirm the details of the account.

"The matter has been brought to our attention and is currently under investigation," she said.
Jackie Kucinich contributed to this report.

Justice in the UAE, Our OTHER Middle Eastern Friends

Note this story of a lawyer that literally wants to put the victim on trial:

Lawyer wants gang-raped woman to be tried for having illicit affair

By Bassam Za'za', Staff Reporter
Lawyer wants gang-raped woman to be tried for having illicit affairDubai: A lawyer has asked the Dubai Public Prosecution to reconsider the case of a gang-raped flight attendant and charge her with drinking and having an illicit relationship.

Lawyer Nasser Hashim, of Al Kamali Advocates and Legal Consultants, asked the Dubai Court of Appeal yesterday to return the case to the Public Prosecution "to reconsider the case and replace the rape charges with having an illicit affair".

Dubai Court of First Instance had earlier sentenced four young UAE nationals, identified as S.Z., 21, A.Z., K.S., both 20, and I.A., 19, to two years in jail each after they were found guilty of luring the 23-year-old British victim into their car, driving off to a remote area and raping her.
Two other nationals, identified as A.H. and J.Z., both 21, were acquitted for insufficient evidence.

Hashim who is defending K.S. claimed that the woman was drunk and got into the suspects' car on her own will. "There was no evidence of forcing, duress or violence," he told the appeal's court.

He pleaded with the judge to ask the public prosecution to reconsider the victim "as a culprit".
In a similar stance, the defence lawyer defending A.Z. told the same court earlier that the "sex took place with the victim's consent".

The judge adjourned the case until next month for more defence witnesses.

Nukes Over the Border

Red Satellites points us to an article that lets us know its not all that tough:

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Undercover investigators slipped radioactive material - enough to make two small "dirty bombs" - across U.S. borders in Texas and Washington state in a test last year of security at American points of entry.

Radiation alarms at the unidentified sites detected the small amounts of cesium-137, a nuclear material used in industrial gauges. But U.S. customs agents permitted the investigators to enter the United States because they were tricked with counterfeit documents.
Very curious disclosure on the verge of the present immigration debates.

BREAKING: Abdul Rahman Seeks Asylum

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) - An Afghan man who faced the death penalty for converting from Islam to Christianity has appealed for asylum in another country, the United Nations said Monday. U.N. spokesman Adrian Edwards said the world body was working with the Afghan government to meet the request by Abdul Rahman, 41.

"Mr. Rahman has asked for asylum outside Afghanistan," Edwards said. "We expect this will be provided by one of the countries interested in a peaceful solution to this case."

Will Yale take him?

You have to love this AP photo and caption.

"An old man prays outside a mosque in Kabul, Afghanistan, Monday, March 27, 2006. Hundreds of people protested in a northern Afghan city Monday against a decision to free a man who faced a possible death penalty for converting from Islam to Christianity, officials said."

Lynch mob seethes, old man prays.

Or this one:

Not to be outdone:

"Death to Christians"

Are we surprised?

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) - Chanting "Death to Christians," hundreds of clerics, students and others marched Monday through an Afghan city to protest a court's decision to toss out a case against a man who faced the death penalty for abandoning Islam for Christianity, police said.
........

Abdul Rahman must be killed. Islam demands it," said senior Cleric Faiez Mohammed, from the nearby northern city of Kunduz. "The Christian foreigners occupying Afghanistan are attacking our religion."

He warned of the possibility of riots erupting across the country if Rahman is released.

Several Muslim clerics have threatened to incite Afghans to kill Rahman if he is freed, saying that he is clearly guilty of apostasy and deserves to die.
Peace be upon our Afghan friends.

A Little Tangling

Michelle Malkin does a piece about an anti illegal immigration protester being attacked. Funny, looks more to me like he is being pummeled (the caption says, "Members of the Indiana Federation for Immigration Reform and Enforcement and the Chicago Minuteman Project tangle with counterprotesters".

When 63-year-old Chicago Minuteman member Rick Biesada arrived and pulled out his protest sign, he claimed that two counterprotesters yanked it from him. When he yanked it back, the men assaulted him, knocking him to the ground, he said.

The Lindenhurst, Ill., resident was treated by paramedics at the scene for a gash over his eye and dizziness, spending a few minutes inside an ambulance before returning to the protest.

The nation needs to support these patriots.

Newsweek Argues for Scalia Recusal

Michael Isikoff at Newsweek questions whether or not Supreme Court Justice Scalia should recuse himself from hearing cases pertaining to the Guantanamo detainees because of some off the cuff remarks at a speech in Switzerland. Its an interesting query. Their is precedent for it. He recused himself from a Pledge of Allegience case two years ago for comments made prior to the case's final ruling. Sitting Justices are not supposed to comment on cases before them The question is whether the comments were specific enough to reference Hamdan v. Rumsfeld, and the specific issues the case represents. You be the Judge:

Scalia dismissed the idea that the detainees have rights under the U.S. Constitution or international conventions, adding he was "astounded" at the "hypocritical" reaction in Europe to Gitmo. "War is war, and it has never been the case that when you captured a combatant you have to give them a jury trial in your civil courts," he says on a tape of the talk reviewed by NEWSWEEK. "Give me a break." Challenged by one audience member about whether the Gitmo detainees don't have protections under the Geneva or human-rights conventions, Scalia shot back: "If he was captured by my army on a battlefield, that is where he belongs. I had a son on that battlefield and they were shooting at my son and I'm not about to give this man who was captured in a war a full jury trial. I mean it's crazy." Scalia was apparently referring to his son Matthew, who served with the U.S. Army in Iraq.
No queries, however, on America's sleepiest Justice.

During recent oral arguments over political redistricting in Texas, Supreme Court Justice Ginsburg, according to The Associated Press, took a nap. "The subject matter was extremely technical," AP reported, "and near the end the argument Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg dozed in her chair." By Bloomberg News' reckoning, the snooze lasted a quarter of an hour.

The Abdul Rahman Watch Continues

Karzai at Pope John Paul II's funeral.

The Karzai government is getting an earful from the free world.

But he is hearing from the other side too.

The Holy Men weigh in:

Afghan Muslim leaders at Friday prayers called for the execution of a Christian convert and demanded that the government resist international pressure.
And the voice of a moderate:

One, Abdul Raoulf - regarded as a moderate after being jailed for criticising the hardline Taliban regime when it was in power - said of Abdul Rahman: 'He is not mad. The government are playing games. The people will not be fooled. This is humiliating for Islam. Cut off his head.

Dhimmi Watch and the Jawa Report alert us to the fact that Mr. Rahman is not the only apostate in peril.

Baron Bodissey gives a very astute response to a commenter on his blog at the Gates of Vienna.

Daily Kos is all over the issue.
UPDATE: Kos has seen the light. There is a lengthy story about it. Of course the issue is important. It is an easy way to attack the President. Rat.

CAIR and the anti-CAIR

LGF reports on anti-CAIR, a much needed and important website which shines the spotlight on the folks at the Council on American-Islamic Relations. The group postures itself as the voice of moderate Islam, but when examined more closely, it has decided connections to terrorist organizations. Andrew Whitehead, who runs the site, just reached an out of court settlement in a suit filed by the terrorist apologists against him. Indications are that, in the case, he would have revealed a little more information than they might have liked.

Check out CAIR and its peeps (from anti-CAIR):

CAIR Employees And Officials Support Terror

Senior CAIR employee Randall Todd Royer, a/k/a “Ismail” Royer, pled guilty and was sentenced to twenty years in prison for participating in a network of militant jihadists centered in Northern Virginia. He admitted to aiding and abetting three persons who sought training in a terrorist camp in Pakistan for the purpose of waging jihad against American troops in Afghanistan. Royer’s illegal actions occurred while he was employed with CAIR.

CAIR's Director of Community Relations, Bassem Khafagi , was arrested by the United States due to his ties with a terror-financing front group. Khafagi pled guilty to charges of visa and bank fraud, and agreed to be deported to Egypt. Khafagi’s illegal actions occurred while he was employed by CAIR.

On December 18, 2002, Ghassan Elashi, founding board member of CAIR-Texas, a founder of the Holy Land Foundation, and a brother-in-law of Musa Abu Marzook , was arrested by the United States and charged with, among other things, making false statements on export declarations, dealing in the property of a designated terrorist organization, conspiracy and money laundering. Ghassan Elashi committed his crimes while working at CAIR, and was found Guilty.

CAIR Board Member Imam Siraj Wahaj, an un-indicted co-conspirator in the first World Trade Center bombing, has called for replacing the American government with an Islamic caliphate, and warned that America will crumble unless it accepts Islam.

Rabih Hadid served as a CAIR Fundraiser. Haddad was co-founder of the Global Relief Foundation (“GRF”). GRF was designated by the US Treasury Department for financing the Al Qaida and other terrorist organizations and its assets were frozen by the US Government on December 14, 2001.

CenSEARCHip

A brilliant idea for a website created by Filippo Menczer, associate professor of informatics and computer science at Indiana University, which enables users to compare Google and Yahoo search results from the United States, China, Germany and France. The website is in its infancy but still promises to be an invaluable tool for bloggers concerned about censorship.

An article on the program:

Search engines might be created with the intent to give all users equal access to the same information, but a Web site created by researchers at the Indiana University School of Informatics visualizes how some countries’ censorship laws affect search results. CenSEARCHip examines versions of Google and Yahoo used in the United States, China, Germany and France. It compares any two countries’ results from a single engine’s Web or image search using the same keywords.

The project was spearheaded by Filippo Menczer, associate professor of informatics and computer science; and Mark Meiss, a computer science doctoral student. CenSEARCHip largely was inspired by Google’s decision in January to create a new version for China (google.cn) and adhere to the government’s free-speech restrictions.

In announcing its decision, Google argued it would be more damaging to pull its services from the world’s largest country than to offer a localized search engine compliant with China’s constraints. Yahoo and Microsoft’s MSN.com also have submitted to the Chinese government’s online restrictions.

“We wanted to explore the results returned by major search engines and in so doing to foster an informed debate on the impact of search censorship on information access throughout the world,” says Menczer, an expert in Web intelligence and data mining applications.

When a user enters a keyword and then clicks on the “Web Search” or “Image Search” button on the CenSEARCHip site, each side of the display highlights the results unique to that national version. For “Web Search,” cenSEARCHip uses so-called “tag clouds” to highlight those terms that are most common in results from one version of the engine and least common in the other.

“For Web search the system downloads the top few pages unique to each country’s results,” explains Meiss, a researcher at IU’s Advanced Network Management Lab, who constructed CenSEARCHip based on a prototype created by Menczer. As the pages are downloaded, a set of words of varying size appears in each half of the display.

“When comparing the U.S. and Chinese Google sites, users tend to get quite different results when searching political topics such as human rights and democracy,” says Meiss. “In China, the blocked sites tend to be Western news media, political parties and the military, international organizations, militant Islamic groups, information related to Taiwan and Tibet and sites with pornographic content.”

Now maybe we can get a better sense of Google's invidious and unfortunate censorship.

CBS News and Jeanine Pirro

I Google imaged plastic surgery disasters in hopes of finding a picture of the album cover of the same name by the punk band the Dead Kennedys. I dont know how Google image works but I found it interesting that one entry for the search was a picture from CBS News of Jeanine Pirro, the District Attorney of Westchester County, New York, who was going to seek the Republican nomination to oppose Hillary in the 2006 Senate race before recently droppoing out. I guess some CBS News staffer has quite a sense of humor.

Boycott Arla

Scared of the existing boycott of Danish goods, Arla Foods teaches us that the way to stand up and fight is to bow your head and drop to your knees.

In a statement by way of Agora:

At Arla Foods we feel that it is our duty to bring to your attention our position on the unfortunate event which took place a few months ago. We are also addressing the conference for International Support for the Prophet to take place on March 22 and 23 2006 to explain our point of view.

Arla foods distances itself from the act of Jyllands-Posten in choosing to print caricatures of the Prophet Muhammed and we do not share the newspaper’s reasons for doing so.

Honored citizens, the years we have been in your world have taught us that justice and tolerance are fundamental values of Islam. We would like to cooperate with Islamic organisation to find a solution to the boycott of Arla’s products. We only ask you to consider this and hopefully, to reconsider your stance towards our company.

Now you know more about who we are, how we think and what we think. We’ll leave the rest up to you.
Yes Arla, now we know how you think. Freedom loving people around the world also know what cowards you are.

Agora also reminds us that that the conference for International Support for the Prophet will be run by the same Danish imams that released fake cartoons which helped incite the furor and called for the prosecution of the cartoonists.

The Abortion Industry's Curious Counsel

MSN posts a troubling article about RU-486, the 'Morning after Pill', and its links to the death of seven women, two of whom have died very recently. That article points out that the Food and Drug Administration "cannot prove the drug was to blame" but its links to the deaths are compelling. The women using the pill also appear to have been infected with a bacterium which is generally not fatal, although this has not been confirmed in the most recent two women.

The most troubling aspect of the article is the additional link between the deaths and the unapproved "off-label" use of the drug advocated by abortion doctors because of its effectiveness.

In a cluster of four cases in California, the women died from an infection of the bloodstream, or sepsis. Those women did not follow FDA-approved instructions for the pill-triggered abortion, which requires swallowing three tablets of one drug, followed by two of another two days later.

Instead of swallowing the final two tablets, the second course of pills was inserted vaginally in the four women, a so-called “off-label” use of the drug that studies show works and is widely recommended by abortion clinics but does not have federal approval.

And we are supposed to listen to them and their profound concern for the health of the woman.

Troops Out, Queers in

... or so chant some during New York City's Saint Patrick's Day Parade (strange way of showing support for our troops). Note the title of the article by Amy Westfeldt, Parade chairman makes anti-gay remarks.

As is usual the point is missed. Gays are not excluded by the parade organizers, they are prohibited from marching under their own banner.

Somebody please explain these two paragraphs to me:

Dunleavy was blasted by the City Council's first openly gay leader for the remarks, which appeared in The Irish Times on Thursday.

Now this:

City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, who is of Irish descent, said she didn't think Dunleavy's remarks were worth a response. She declined to participate in the Fifth Avenue parade after organizers barred an Irish gay and lesbian group for a 16th straight year.

I guess the mere silence of such a profound leader constitutes a 'blasting' in Ms. Westfeldt's eyes. I nominate her for the First Annual al-Reuters Award for Fair, Balanced and Consistent Reporting.

UPDATE: Whoah, that was quick. The WaPo pulls the original Wesfeldt article. The very debatable Parade chairman makes anti-gay remarks headline becomes Remark About Gays Shadows St. Pat's Parade in a more sanitary article by a different journalist. I re-linked above to the original piece which is still up at Townhall. Ms. Westfeldt has not been disqualified from her aforementioned nomination.

Should a Test of 'Liberalism' Go this Far?

And, should there be such a test of liberalism?

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands - The camera focuses on two gay men kissing in a park. Later, a topless woman emerges from the sea and walks onto a crowded beach. For would-be immigrants to the Netherlands, this film is a test of their readiness to participate in the liberal Dutch culture.

Despite whether they find the film offensive, applicants must buy a copy and watch it if they hope to pass the Netherlands‘ new entrance examination.

Should a person be subjected to such a test to become a citizen? I thought a corollary to the concept of freedom was the ability to look away at those things an individual might think offensive.

Dangerously Incompetent

[via Drudge]

Is this phrase a talking point?

No, of course not.

Or is the DNC just stealing its talking points from the blogosphere.

Big Brother from Another Mother

The rampant fear-mongering about NSA 'spying' on Americans has stolen much of MSM's headline space of late. Unfortunately, little attention was given to the fact that it really wasn't 'spying' and it really wasn't directed at Americans. But facts never interrupt a left wing mantra.

Maybe the general public needed a real example of Big Brother. Liberalism's American Mecca, New York City, was glad to oblige. From the Washington Post:

New York City is starting to monitor the blood sugar levels of its diabetic residents, marking the first time any government in the United States has begun tracking people with a chronic disease.

Under the program, the city is requiring laboratories to report the results of blood sugar tests directly to the health department, which will use the data to study the disease and to prod doctors and patients when levels run too high.

Question: Why would inquiries such as these end at blood sugar levels? Why not tests such as blood pressure or cholestrol, and on, and on? You can design an Olympic downhill course from this slippery slope.

Patients will be contacted.

***************
The plan has alarmed privacy advocates, particularly because the information is being collected without first getting patients' consent.

"It's an incredible invasion to privacy to have your sensitive medical information grabbed by the city of New York," said Robin Kaigh, a New York lawyer who opposes the effort. "It shocks the conscience that they are not even required to tell you this is happening."

Doctors may not even know data on their patients are being collected.

"It's a little creepy that it's being done so undercover -- in the laboratories -- where it's completely out of sight of the doctor-patient interaction," said Twila J. Brase of the Citizens' Council on Health Care, a nonprofit group in Minnesota.

"Hello, this is a recording. My name is Betty Bureaucrat and I am an underworked paper pusher employed by New York City. It is my job to tell you that unbeknownst to your Doctor and without your consent, we have obtained your blood sugar test results.

Push one to hear the results of your tests in English.

To continuar en Espanol.....

The reaction of the self designated 'public health advocates was predictable:

"We greatly support the idea of helping people with diabetes better manage their disease," said Richard Kahn, the association's chief scientific and medical officer. "We also are concerned with information about a person's individual medical condition becoming publicly known."

Other experts praised the plan.

"There are hundreds of thousands of Americans who are going to have heart attacks, strokes, amputations and dialysis because we are not paying good enough attention to their diabetes," said Benjamin Littenberg of the University of Vermont, who has been studying the approach. "This has got tremendous potential to prevent an enormous amount of misery, pain and premature death."

Finish the quote, Mr. Littenberg "...at the expense of privacy and liberty."

Wafa Sultan - In Her Words

I have watched the video so many times. I made mention of it here. It is so compelling, so prescient and so powerful, I felt the need to publish the words of Wafa Sultan so they endure.

Catch the video here.

Lone Pony blogs the translation:

Wafa Sultan: The clash we are witnessing around the world is not a clash of religions, or a clash of civilizations. It is a clash between two opposites, between two eras. It is a clash between a mentality that belongs to the Middle Ages and another mentality that belongs to the 21st century. It is a clash between civilization and backwardness, between the civilized and the primitive, between barbarity and rationality. It is a clash between freedom and oppression, between democracy and dictatorship. It is a clash between human rights, on the one hand, and the violation of these rights, on other hand. It is a clash between those who treat women like beasts, and those who treat them like human beings. What we see today is not a clash of civilizations. Civilizations do not clash, but compete.

[...]Host: I understand from your words that what is happening today is a clash between the culture of the West, and the backwardness and ignorance of the Muslims?Wafa Sultan: Yes, that is what I mean.

[...]Host: Who came up with the concept of a clash of civilizations? Was it not Samuel Huntington? It was not Bin Laden. I would like to discuss this issue, if you don't mind...

Wafa Sultan: The Muslims are the ones who began using this expression. The Muslims are the ones who began the clash of civilizations. The Prophet of Islam said: "I was ordered to fight the people until they believe in Allah and His Messenger." When the Muslims divided the people into Muslims and non-Muslims, and called to fight the others until they believe in what they themselves believe, they started this clash, and began this war. In order to start this war, they must reexamine their Islamic books and curricula, which are full of calls for takfir and fighting the infidels. My colleague has said that he never offends other people's beliefs. What civilization on the face of this earth allows him to call other people by names that they did not choose for themselves? Once, he calls them Ahl Al-Dhimma, another time he calls them the "People of the Book," and yet another time he compares them to apes and pigs, or he calls the Christians "those who incur Allah's wrath." Who told you that they are "People of the Book"? They are not the People of the Book, they are people of many books. All the useful scientific books that you have today are theirs, the fruit of their free and creative thinking. What gives you the right to call them "those who incur Allah's wrath," or "those who have gone astray," and then come here and say that your religion commands you to refrain from offending the beliefs of others?I am not a Christian, a Muslim, or a Jew. I am a secular human being. I do not believe in the supernatural, but I respect others' right to believe in it.

Dr. Ibrahim Al-Khouli: Are you a heretic?
Wafa Sultan: You can say whatever you like. I am a secular human being who does not believe in the supernatural...

Dr. Ibrahim Al-Khouli: If you are a heretic, there is no point in rebuking you, since you have blasphemed against Islam, the Prophet, and the Koran...

Wafa Sultan: These are personal matters that do not concern you.[...]Wafa Sultan: Brother, you can believe in stones, as long as you don't throw them at me. You are free to worship whoever you want, but other people's beliefs are not your concern, whether they believe that the Messiah is God, son of Mary, or that Satan is God, son of Mary. Let people have their beliefs.[...]Wafa Sultan: The Jews have came from the tragedy (of the Holocaust), and forced the world to respect them, with their knowledge, not with their terror, with their work, not their crying and yelling. Humanity owes most of the discoveries and science of the 19th and 20th centuries to Jewish scientists. 15 million people, scattered throughout the world, united and won their rights through work and knowledge. We have not seen a single Jew blow himself up in a German restaurant. We have not seen a single Jew destroy a church. We have not seen a single Jew protest by killing people. The Muslims have turned three Buddha statues into rubble. We have not seen a single Buddhist burn down a Mosque, kill a Muslim, or burn down an embassy. Only the Muslims defend their beliefs by burning down churches, killing people, and destroying embassies. This path will not yield any results. The Muslims must ask themselves what they can do for humankind, before they demand that humankind respect them.

"We will convert to Islam and do whatever you say. Please just spare us,"

The "Final War"

Islamic terrorists envision it but the West ignores...

Just a few days before last month's PA election, Iranian President Ahmadinejad met Hamas leaders Khaled Mashal and Musa Abu Marzuk in Damascus, together with the leaders of nine other Syria-based terrorist groups. They conluded that the conflict in Judea and Samaria will become a "focal point of the final war" between Islam and the West.

Demographics and Islam: Why the West is in Jeopardy

Excellent article from the Sydney Morning herald:

While the population of Western Europe is expected to be 3.5 per cent lower in 10 years, the Muslim population is on course to double to 30 million. In the engine room of Europe - Britain, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and Holland - the Muslim population has exploded from 6 million to 14 million in the past 25 years. By the end of the decade, it will be larger than the population of Australia.

In the areas of greatest grievance to the Muslim world, the Palestinian territories and Iraq, demography and religion have transformed the equation into unwinnable wars for Israel and the US.

Interfaith Discourse

Judge for yourself:

Three experts this week helped penetrate the veil of misinformation and ignorance that shrouds Islamic religion and culture in this country.

Calling on books as diverse as the Koran and "The 9/11 Commission Report," the trio sought to counter the willful "disconnecting of dots" that has given rise to harmful myths about Muslims and their perception of the world.

The two-hour presentation came as the last of a six-part weekly series titled "Islam: A Religion and a Way of Life," which the Charlotte-Glades Library System has sponsored at the Mid-County Regional Library in Port Charlotte since Jan. 23.

Last week's program featured a discussion of Western and Islamic concepts of war by Dr. Ahmed N. Elrefai; the reading of an open letter to Osama Bin Laden by Hassan Hammami, a former director for Proctor & Gamble; and an appearance by author Samar Jarrah, a former reporter and professor, who provided political context to current events in the Middle East and urged listeners to look beyond media spin to understand them.

Elrefai stressed that, despite their title, the talks were "not for the purposes of conversion, comparing religions or engaging in political discussions," but just presenting the truth about the religion of Islam, which, Elrefai noted after his talk, embraces Christian and Jewish prophets among its own.

"The Koran contains more references to the Virgin Mary than the Bible, itself." he said.

Elrefai drew other parallels between these ostensibly divergent cultures in noting the overlap between the "just war" tradition of the West, as defined by St. Thomas Aquinas, and the Islamic "holy war," or "jihad," as spelled out in the Koran. He reminded listeners of the Vatican's condemnation of "preemptive and preventive war," such as that the United States launched in Iraq. Islam condemns it, too.

Hammami introduced his open letter to bin Laden by noting that none of the U.S. newspapers he has approached has agreed to publish it.

The lengthy missive upbraids "Usamah" for violating Koranic tenets against persecuting people of other religions, declaring war on innocent civilians, denying women the rights God gave them and twisting the meaning of jihad.

"Your interpretation of Islam is regressive, intolerant ... vengeful and oppressive," Hammami read. "Yours is a political movement, not a religious cause. You have led the enemies of Islam to see Islam as you have interpreted it, selectively, narrowly and in a non-Muslim way. These are the exact opposites of what Islam is: progressive, tolerant, broad-minded, merciful, peaceful and empowering."

Hammami cited the Koran at length to stress discrepancies between its tenets and bin Laden's preachings.

Jarrah advised her fellow Americans to "go beyond the headlines and do some homework on their own to understand the complexity of foreign policy and international relations."

Jarrah, who holds a master's degree in political science from the University of South Florida, said colonial shackles bred under development in the Middle East when the region was divided upon the Ottoman Empire's collapse after World War I, giving rise to what has been called "a peace to end all peace."

This was followed by the 1947 creation by "Christians, Europeans and Russians" of the Jewish state of Israel "in the heart of the Arab world...(with the ultimatum) accept it or leave," Jarrah said. "Unfortunately, my grandfather didn't accept it, and all I have left is a picture of my house."

The three speakers -- all naturalized citizens who employ the first person plural when talking about "the American people" -- also called for the lifting of another veil: the shroud of secrecy and deception the Bush administration erected to blur comprehension of its motives in the Middle East.

Elrefai chided people, such as former national security advisor Paul Wolfowitz, for spouting "a pervasive message that connects the wrong dots" in order to foment a "clash of civilizations."

Jarrah's geopolitical take turned economic fast.

"By controlling the price of oil, I can influence the global economy," she said.

ATTICA! ATTICA! - NYC Dummies and Dhimmies

Caught at the Religion of Peace.

You would think that New York City, of all places, would be careful about putting Muslim hate preachers on the payroll. But in the Mecca of liberalism, common sense and prudence gives way to Islamic ire. Listen to Imam Umar Abdul-Jalil, the executive director of ministerial services for the New York City Department of Correction:

"We have terrorists defining who a terrorist is, but because they have the weight of legitimacy, they get away with it . . . We know that the greatest terrorists in the world occupy the White House, without a doubt,"

or,

"They [some Muslim inmates] are not charged with anything, they are not entitled to any rights, they are interrogated. Some of them are literally tortured and we found this in the Metropolitan Correctional Facility in Manhattan. But they literally are torturing people,"

or,

At another session, Abdul-Jalil urged American Muslims to stop allowing "the Zionists of the media to dictate what Islam is to us" and said Muslims must be "compassionate with each other" and "hard against the kufr [unbeliever]."

Sound familiar?

Remember the Muslim Chaplain of the New York City Fire Department.

Remember the head Muslim Chaplain on the New York State Prison system:

Umar had expressed support for the 9/11 terrorists — admitting that Muslims "who say they are against terrorism secretly admire and applaud" bin Laden's mass murderers. (According to Umar, the Koran doesn't forbid terrorism even against the innocent. "This is the sort of teaching they don't want in prison," he said. "But this is what I'm doing.")

Republican Corruption

With all of the talk about corruption in the Republican Congress, Mark in Mexico separates myth from reality:

Since the 1970s, more than a dozen congressmen have been convicted in criminal court. Their cases and sentences include:-

- Rep. Andrew J. Hinshaw, R-Cal., spent a year in jail after being convicted in 1976 of accepting bribes when he was county tax assessor. He lost the primary election and resigned at the end of his term.
- Rep. Charles Diggs Jr., D-Mich., was convicted in 1978 of operating a payroll kickback scheme in his congressional office. He served seven months of a three-year prison term. He was re-elected, then resigned in 1980.

- Rep. Michael Myers, D-Pa., served 20 1/2 months of a three-year prison sentence for accepting bribes from FBI agents impersonating Arab businessmen. He was convicted in 1980 and expelled from Congress.

- Frank Thompson, D-NJ, sentenced to 3 years in the Arab businessmen bribery scandal (ABSCAM)

- John Jenrette, D-SC, sentenced to 2 years in the Arab businessmen bribery scandal (ABSCAM)

- John Murphy, D-NY, sentenced to 3 years in the Arab businessmen bribery scandal (ABSCAM)

- Raymond Lederer, D-PA, sentenced to 1 year in the Arab businessmen bribery scandal (ABSCAM)

- Rep. Mario Biaggi, D-NY, was convicted in 1988 of extorting nearly $2 million from defense contractor Wedtech Corp. He resigned from Congress and served two years and two months of an eight-year sentence. He was defeated in his 1992 re-election bid.

- Rep. Mel Reynolds, D-Ill., was sentenced in 1995 to five years in prison for having sex with an underage campaign worker. He resigned from Congress, then was sentenced in 1997 to 6 1/2 years for bank fraud and other violations. The second sentence, which was to run at the same time as the first, was commuted in 2001 by President Clinton.

- Rep. Walter Tucker III, D-Calif., was sentenced in 1996 to two years and three months in prison for accepting and demanding bribes while mayor of a Los Angeles suburb. He resigned from Congress a week after his 1995 conviction.

- Rep. Dan Rostenkowski, D-Ill., pleaded guilty in 1996 to two felony mail fraud charges, lost re-election and served 15 months in prison. Clinton pardoned him in 2000.

- Rep. James A. Trafficant, D-Ohio, was convicted of 10 counts of bribery, conspiracy and racketeering, expelled from Congress and sentenced in 2002 to eight years in prison.

- Randy "Duke" Cunningham, R-Cal., sentenced to 8 years and four months for taking more than $2.4 million in bribes in exchange for a long list of political favorsHmmm. Maybe the Republican crimes were of a more serious nature?

Total Years Sentenced (all years sentenced including years commuted and pardons granted by President Clinton, D-Ark.) Republicans: 11 yrs, 4 months Democrats: 54 years, 2 months

Hippie Cool - Peace, Love and NIMBY

NIMBY is the often used acronym for 'not in my backyard'. It points out the hypocrisy of those who advocate certain land uses, so long as said land is not in their neighborhoods. It is often used when proposals are made to build new power plants, halfway houses, prisons, waste treatment plants, etc..

Free lovin San Franciscans apparently think that religious organizations pose a particular nuisance to their hippie heaven:

The Church of Scientology and other religious groups would be banned from buying a historic San Francisco building in the heart of the city's North Beach neighborhood under a proposed city ordinance.

Good thing religious freedom is a popularity contest:

``I would say we get about a 95 percent approval rating from our neighbors in this district,'' he said. ``They're happy that we're here. That's what I'm hearing on the street.''

The people are now safe from those dangerous pampleteers:

Peskin said he sponsored the measure after fielding complaints from neighbors and merchants concerned the church would aggressively peddle religious materials and disrupt the neighborhood's easy-going ways.

Muslimophobes at the NY Times

Muslims, what Muslims? Can we say Muslims?

Michelle Malkin asks where are the Muslims?

From the NY Times:

The man charged with nine counts of attempted murder for driving a Jeep through a crowd at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill last Friday told the police that he deliberately rented a four-wheel-drive vehicle so he could ‘run over things and keep going,’ according to court papers released yesterday by investigators. Details in the search warrant for the Carrboro, N.C., apartment of the defendant, Mohammed Reza Taheri-azar, suggest that he had planned his actions for months and was disappointed the attack had not done more damage. None of the nine people who were struck by the Jeep Grand Cherokee as they were standing in a campus commons area known as the Pit were seriously injured.

“According to statements taken by the police, Mr. Taheri-azar, 22, an Iranian-born graduate of the university, felt that the United States government had been ‘killing his people across the sea’ and that his actions reflected ‘an eye for an eye.’”

Burning Dead Bodies is a Horrible Sin

Unless we do it to Buddhists.

Pat Tillman, Hero

We don't know how Pat Tillman died, but we need to know. We all know the fame and fortune he gave up to go after those responsible, directly or indirectly, for the 9/11 attacks. The information we have received so far has been shoddy, misleading and at times, false. This is a national disgrace. My sympathies are for his family, and they deserve our thanks for maintaining pressure on the DD to fully probe his death. The prior investigations look like shoddy whitewashes but hopefully, with the newfound attention on the case, we will finally learn the truth.

The Right, myself included, used his entry into the conflict as a rallying cry in the war on terrorism. The Left, citing his reading of Chomsky and quotes to fellow soldiers, now see him as one of their own. I hope that his memory can be suspended as a propaganda tool and be seen as a hero who gave the ultimate sacrifice to his country. And for that, the circumstances surrounding his death must be accurately discovered, and disclosed. His memory deserves no less.

Liveblogging the Oscars

Since I was roped into watching the Oscars under horrific threats of celibacy, might as well make the best of it and blog away. Snarking Dawgettte will do the fashion commentary, as I have only just learned that the amount of cleavage is not the single measure of a woman's dress.

McCarthyite, transgendered, Brokeback blogging.

Ann Coulter weighs in on her picks:

I shall summarize the plots of the five movies nominated for best picture below:
"Brokeback Mountain" (gay)
"Capote" (death penalty with bonus gay lead)
"Crash" (racism)
"Good Night, and Good Luck" (McCarthyism)
"Munich" (Jew athletes at Munich had it coming)

Everyone says it's going to be "Crash," but I think "Crash" is too popular with filmgoers. Moreover, Hollywood feels it has done enough for the blacks. Hollywood can never do enough for the gays. Gays in the military, gays in the Texas Rangers, gays on the range. It's like a brokeback record! As Pat Buchanan said, homosexuality has gone from "the love that dare not speak its name" to "the love that won't shut up."

Let the mayhem begin.

Tedious joke about how nobody wants to host the Oscars. Yawn.

Forget it. This is abysmal and we are still in the monologue.

UPDATE: Agora with News on Dane Leader Claim

On a story posted below, Jens Rohde, political spokesman of the Liberals, originally claimed that:

A group of Moslem males have tried to get at the daughter of one of the 12 cartoonists who drew the cartoons of Muhammed at her school

Apparently it is a lot more complicated than originally reported. Please see Agora for excellent analysis.

Boys Will Be.....Dumbasses

Boy sticks gum on $1.5m painting

I think the most interesting thing here, is the story within the story - the reaction of the 'adults'.

The Director of the Holly Academy, Julie Kildee gives us some perspective:

"Even though we give very strict guidelines on proper behaviour and we hold students to high standards, he is only 12,"

Obviously those standards are not high enough.

The curator, obviously a woman naturally blessed with street cred, schooled the young hooligan on the gravity of his offense:

Becky Hart, assistant curator of contemporary art at the museum, said she had tried to explain to the boy how the museum helped preserve works of art.

"I knew that probably wouldn't make any sense to him, so I asked him what kind of music he liked," Ms Hart told the Detroit Free Press.

"He said he liked rap, so I said: 'Well, you know what rock and roll is,' and he did.

"So I said: 'Can you imagine if somebody had messed up the beat in rock and roll so you didn't have any rhythm in rap.' And he looked at me, and he got it immediately."

Random Car Slaughter ...

from the Religion of Peace:

A recent University of North Carolina graduate faces attempted murder charges after a sport utility vehicle raced through a popular campus gathering spot Friday, hurting nine people and scattering startled bystanders.

Six people - five students and a visiting scholar - were treated for minor injuries and released from UNC Hospitals, the university said in a statement. Three other people declined treatment at the scene, police said.

Mohammed Reza Taheri-azar, 22, who graduated in December with a double major in psychology and philosophy, was being held Friday by campus police. They intend to charge him with nine counts of attempted murder and nine counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, said Capt. George Hare of the UNC Department of Public Safety.

The FBI joined the case because Taheri-azar, a native of Iran, "allegedly made statements that he acted to avenge the American treatment of Muslims. The ongoing investigation will work to confirm this," said Special Agent Richard Kolko, an FBI spokesman in Washington.

Religion of Peace: Hunting Down Little Schoolgirls

Apparently now the school aged daughters of the 'infamous' Danish Twelve cartoonists are being targeted by Muslim peaceniks/thugs. From Agora translating an interview Jens Rohde, political spokesman of the Liberals, on a local radio homepage:

A group of Moslem males have tried to get at the daughter of one of the 12 cartoonists who drew the cartoons of Muhammed at her school. The political spokesman of the Liberals, Jens Rohde, revealed this during an interview with TV-Avisen while explaining his and the Prime Minister’s attack on the business community in Denmark, charging that they have put profits over Freedom of Speech
.

Now the girl has been forced into hiding. Agora working on translating the rest of the interview.

UPDATE: Some of the rest of the translation of the interview. The main subject was the Danish government's criticism to the reaction of local business leaders in the wake of the cartoon controversy.

Jens Rohde: It’s certainly not those who have chosen to lay low and let this storm blow over them. What this is about, is that there are CEOs who have tried to get the government to apologise - both in writing and in speaking - in order to put this behind us. Those people all know who they are, and what they have done - and those are the people the Prime Minister is aiming at. But the communication that has passed between us and them of course can be publicised, because people must be able to write to us in all confidentiality. So what this is about, is that some may feel that the Prime Minister was aiming at them, but others need not have that feeling. And certainly not Lars Krobæk.

News Anchor: Jens Rohde, you almost sound like a headmaster at a boarding school: "Those who have been misbehaving know who they are…." Shouldn’t the government go public and say that this is a debate about Freedom of Speech - these people haven’t been here: them and them and them.

Jens Rohde: This isn’t about people who haven’t been there - this is about some people who have been very active in trying to get the government to issue an apology. And that is not, we think, in tune with these people saying that they support Freedom of Speech or, for that matter, Freedom of the Press. And it is /that/ basic discussion the Prime Minister participated in - and…. now this seems to be turning into a discussion about someone’s hurt vanity and I think that is really too bad, because the discussion about the principles of this is first of all important, and apart from that I think we ought to consider that we have 12 cartoonists in this country who have to live in hiding under protection, have had their lives turned around. The daughter of one of the cartoonists was sought out by 12 Moslem males at her school - they wanted to get at her. Luckily, she wasn’t there, and these people now live with fatwas over their head. And this is where I think that all of us ought to back these people up and say that we don’t want to allow this kind of thing to happen to our cartoonists - we need to back up their right to exercise their profession.

Online Applications: Jobs and Jihadis

hat tip GR8K9

Well the remarkable convenience of the internet made life a little simpler for the world's Jihadists.

A state-organised group which avowedly trains suicide bombers against “Western infidels and Zionists” has launched a new website to recruit volunteers, Iran Focus has learnt. The website has been set up by the Headquarters to Commemorate Martyrs of the Global Islamic Movement, an organisation set up by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps in 2004. Those who join are given three choices: To carry out suicide attacks against “the infidels occupying Iraq”, against Israel, or against Salman Rushdie.

I guess Mr. Rushdie, a participant in the recent anti-Islamist manifesto, kept himself atop the hit parade.

Muhammad and the Taliban at Yale

No, this is not a Dhimmi sequel to William F. Buckley's monumental expose of Yale's anti-Western bias, but it is equally shocking.

The last time Rahmatullah Hashemi came to Yale, it was March 2001 and he was a Taliban spokesman in a turban and Afghan tunic, singing the praises of his fundamentalist masters.

Five years on, and Mr Rahmatullah, 27, is in his first year as a student at the Ivy League university whose illustrious list of alumni begins with the present and previous two US presidents.

The fine folks at Young America's Foundation remind us how welcome the Yalies make ROTC recruiters feel. Long live multiculturalism.

The Ties that Bind...

or Undo - the Unholy Alliance between CAIR, the UAE and Our Enemies.

Paul Sperry from the Hoover Institution, writes an excellent and fact rich article in Front Page Mag which links terrorism's smiley American face, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, or CAIR, the UAE, the Taliban and even Osama bin Laden. Although the thrust of his article is to shed light on CAIR's nefarious alliances, I think what is most telling and significant are the facts he reveals about the UAE:

CAIR's landlord, Sheik Maktoum, doubles as UAE defense minister. Before 9/11, he provided UAE military C-130 cargo planes to supply al-Qaida hunting camps in Afghanistan with all the amenities they needed when he and other high-level UAE officials and princes took hunting trips there. On one trip in 1999, roughly half the UAE royal family was the guest of Osama bin laden at his camp near Kandahar. They flew in on an official UAE aircraft, according to a recently declassified CIA memo dated Feb. 19, 1999, and titled, "Recent High Level UAE Visits to Afghanistan." The memo also determined that Dubai officials had lied to U.S. officials about visiting the camps. And they were believed to have even tipped off bin Laden about a coming strike on his camps. Mind you, this was just months after bin Laden blew up the two U.S. embassies in Africa (a plot which was financed in part through Dubai banks), so they knew they were in bad company. Just like CAIR knows it's in bad company.

The Dubai officials also had a cozy relationship with the Taliban. By now you've probably heard that the UAE was one of only three countries in the world -- the others being Saudi Arabia and Pakistan -- to formally recognize the Taliban in diplomatic circles. What you haven't heard is that Dubai was one of the Taliban's only travel and financial outlets to the outside world. Dubai booked flights for them and acted as their banker. But CAIR doesn't care about that, either (nor apparently does the White House).

So with all the bonding that bin Laden did with Dubai royals before 9/11, it's little wonder that he deployed 13 of his 19 hijackers from Dubai to hit America. That's right, all 13 entered the U.S. from Dubai (and that's not even counting the original 20th hijacker Mohammed al-Katani, who also entered through Dubai before an alert INS inspector at Orlando airport sent him packing). Or little wonder that two were Emirates, and that one -- Marwan al-Shehhi -- in fact served under Sheik Maktoum in the UAE Army. He no doubt made the general proud by crashing his plane into the South Tower.

It's also not surprising, given Dubai's cozy ties to bin Laden and Taleb leaders, that the hijackers were able to use Dubai as their financial base in addition to their forward staging base. As they came through Dubai, they were outfitted by the nephew of 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed with credit cards, cash, bank accounts and American-style clothing. More than $100,000 in al-Qaida funds were funneled through Dubai banks. One single transfer from Dubai into al-Shehhi's and his pal Mohamed Atta's Florida checking account totaled $70,000.

The day before crashing his hijacked United Airlines jet, al-Shehhi wired $5,400 in leftover al-Qaida funds back to Dubai. Other hijackers also wired residuals there. After the attacks, investigators traced al-Shehhi phone calls back to the UAE, where he is now celebrated as a hero in mosques and other local gathering places outside the gaze of Western investors, who are too intoxicated by glittering high-rises and other signs of modernity to understand that the desert oasis is still haunted by ancient demons.
