Thoughts on the immigration bill votes

As per the precedents to the most pivotal immigration votes of our generation:
McCain doesnt vote on the first. Brownback doesnt vote on the second. Accordingly, neither is worthy of the Presidency.
From his comments, Fred! would have voted Nayyyyy. Long live Fred!.
*****
I watched some of the debate. Sen. Sessions is a hero. To see him be attacked by the Kennedy's, Feinstein's of the Senate was disgusting. And the other Repubs - McConnell, Graham, - etc., wtf are you thinking? The Republican party is now too fractured to survive. The White House supported the original bill but have been quiet ever since.

If this bill eventually passes, with the support of stray Repubs and the White House. the party will be doomed to minority status for a good 20 years.

The immigration bill could have been a nice opportunity for Repubs to pick up the blue collar Reagan dems. But that opportunity has been shelved.

Fuck the stuttering President and his inept handlers.

I'm glad to see my two senators (GA) got their act together and voted against the bill.
They've been getting hammered in public meetings.

I agree praxeus. I think this vote was good cover for Reoubs taking the heat. They can say they didnt like the bill as written when they really would have voted for it anyway. I am still embarassed by my party.

Here's the silver lining, myra. Or really, only my wine-induced opinion;

Let the Repube-ikins fracture. We need a good house cleaning. I will guaranfreakingtee you that the Lindsey Graham's of the party will be long gone because it finally took THIS to get those who are half-asleep off of their asses and in motion. The grassroots is sooo strong and vibrant right now, I'm just prayin' that the typical short term memory that seems to plague our citizens doesn't rear its ugly head again, especially with such an important vote coming up in '08.

If you think about it, Fred is a shoe-in, and I believe he's hanging back on purpose. I mean, think about it. His numbers are as good as Mitt Romney's, and Romney announced his intentions first! Fred isn't stupid. He's going to let the others stumble, and then he's going to ride in on his white horse at just the right moment.

Okay - done lecturing. Sorry myra!!!!!!!
