Thirty Years Since Monday Saved the Flag

It has been thirty years since Chicago Cub outfielder Rick Monday rescued an American flag from two pissants who sought to burn it in the outfield during a game. A couple of cleat shots to their cabezas would have been nice but this still stands out as a great symbolic moment. Thank you Rick.

This from a great piece in USA Today:

The hand was trembling, the voice was quivering and tears were running down
his face.

The World War II soldier, who survived the Pearl Harbor attack, looked Rick Monday in the eyes, slowly raised his right arm, and saluted him.

"Thank you," Monday recalls the soldier telling him last year. "And thank you from all of my shipmates."

Interesting post.

Say, thanks for dropping by my site and answering the question about "sexy" being used to mean "exciting."

Put in the context of sports it makes more sense.

My proffessor is a sports nut.

Anyway, thanks
